Titlemax is a scam and treat their customers as though we are the thieves Charleston, South Carolina
I'm just writing to agree with the fellow from Tennessee. He's in better shape than I am though. Here in South Carolina they can and do charge 150% interest! I took out a loan with them in November of 2010 for 5K. Crazy, I know but unfortunately due to a series of events including the death of my husband, I lost my good credit and had no where else to go. I also had every intention of paying it off within 4 months but things didn't work out the way they were planned.
Everything Brian said is absolutely true. They make it difficult and more costly to do anything. They don't accept payments by phone so if you find yourself unable to get there in time you can't avoid the added interest, nor will they accept personal checks. They only accept money orders and wire transfers from Western Union, both of which cost. They won't accept even a partial payment. So if you find yourself in some situation where you're short because you've had to put out unexpected money for whatever reason, you can't even show good faith! In fact they willeven treat you as though you're refusing to pay them at all as you stand there with half a payment in hand! You also can't make a payment at any Titlemax except the one where the loan originated so if you planned to pay cash on your due date and find yourself broke down on the other side of town, you're screwed again!
While I've never been called before my payment was due, I have been called on that day! They will try to pin you down on what time you will be in and if you give them a time and you're not right on time they will begin calling immediately. I learned that quick and refuse to give them a time and just tell them I will be there before they close for the day.
If you have any problem at all they speak to you as if you are the one ripping them off, it's incredible.
There was a timewhen people who got title loans might have been considered in a more negative light because obviously they were people with poor credit. Now no oneknows why any one personhas bad credit; they could just be a dead beat or it can be because of circumstances beyond their control. The problem is that back in the salad days, before our economy took a turn for the worse, Titlemax probably had a lot of dead beats for customers. (I'm not saying everyone who got a title loan back then was a dead beat so I don't want to hear a bunch of crap from insulted people) Anyway, Titlemax got use to dealing with those kinds of people and took a stance. The problem is that our economy has changed and therefore so have their clientle. So they treat everyone as though they believe from the beginning thatyou have no intention of paying off the loan. This is my opinion it's how I felt I was treated and how I told them I felt.
I hate the company, have them listed in my phone contacts as "THIEVES"! If I ever get this d*mn loan paid off you can be sure I will never ever use them again and I would encourage everyone to selltheir car for cash before getting a loan from Titlemax.

titlemax john w morrow jr pkwy, across from mall Gainesville, Georgia
I worked for titlemax for a few months...because that's all I could handle. Their recruiter lured me in with promises of fast advancement and promotions and making a lot of money, talking all about their benefits and such. Then at the last second they ask you if you're comfortable going out and finding past-due customers...after you've already said yes to everything else. That should have been my first sign that this wasn't something I should be part of. I quickly learned that "feelings" for customers were basically not allowed and that we must try to get them to borrow as much money as possible at all times, no matter how dire their situation would become 30 days later when the payment was due. They claim 12.99%-9.99% interest however this is recurring every 30 days....the actual APR is closer to 150%...if you pay it off in a year...which they don't want. If you're having promblems with titlemax all I will say is that every office is different and the people in the office make all the difference because those are the actual people who will lend you the money, and make collection calls to you; no one from corporate gets involved. So, if anyone in an office EVER threatens you with a repo, or tells anyone other than you (references, boss, family) about your account information, including the fact that you have a title pawn, or even threatens you with a repo.... CALL CORPORATE. They take this very seriously and the people in the stores will get in trouble for not following policy. Grill them all the way because who knows what kind of lawsuit you could cause them...and let me tell you first hand...they've got the money to pay you off. If you don't pay your bill on the day it's due they will call your home/work/cell once in the morning and once in the evening. On the third day if you still haven't called back they start calling your references, once in the morning, once in the evening, and they will come out to your house. They aren't coming to get the vehicle after 3 days but they are looking for you and for their collateral just so they know whats going on. After you are 30 days late you're gonna be in trouble.....don't let it get that bad because thats when they really start getting serious and start running traces to see where you/the vehicle are and get ready for a repo. I had to quit the job because it was just too much. You meet awful people both doing collections and working with them in the office. They mask themselves with trying to help you but in the end it's just another sleezy pawnshop.... If you read this and still need the loan badly enough the only advice I can offer you is to pay back the amount they tell you on your payback guide every time...if you can't make that payment then don't do it. These are short term loans they try to trap you in for the long-term.... I don't recomend it...though some people are smart about it and pay back the whole loan in 30 days. good luck

titlemax they treat you like you're the criminal! gardencity, Georgia
I too had the same problem with Title Max. when you pawn your title to them you aare actually paying them back TWICE as much as you borrowed. If you miss by one day they report your car as a stolen vehicle. They have absolutely no leniency for anybody even if you DO CALL them. The day that your payment is to be made they will call you a hundred times between the time time they open until you make your payment. Once you have made your payment they then ask you when and will you be making your next one. sometimes they even called me the DAY AFTER I made a payment to ask when i will be making the next one. By the time they have called you a hundred times the day you are scheduled to make a payment, you get there you're fuming mad because you're phone has rang off the hook all day, you've been drilled like you're being interrogated, it doesn't end there. when you get to the office you make you're payment and are given dirty looks like they are higher than you and they have no debt, no problems and they have their lives so under control that they dont need to take out a simple loan. They treat you like you are as low as dirt. You feel like shit after you come out of there. I will NEVER take a loan out from them again because they treat you like you have stolen their property or you're a criminal in their eyes. Like you're the scum of the earth. If they were the last people on earth that could put food on my table for my family all in trade for a loan, I would choose to starve. Go to hell titlemax

Titlemax Mario Don't Trust These Guys Springfield, Tennessee
I took out a loan w/ Titlemax September of 2010 to because I was behind on some bills. I went down there and took out a loan. The fees included in the fianace were outrageous and out of this world. I had made all of my payments on time until I got laid off in January due to lay off status. That's when the trouble with these guys started. They started harrassing my former employers and all of my references. By law, these guys violated that by harrassing them. Then about a few weeks ago, I got several hateful voicemails on my cell phone stating that they will get very legal with me. The guy that left these voicemails was Robbie. He was very rude and DECEITFUL like the folks at Titlemax. Then over the weekend, I tried to reason with them and they wanted the full amount. Again, Mario at Titlemax (Springfield) got hateful with me then and had his boys come and get my vehicle. I tried to tell them that my father was in bad shape and I needed my vehicle but Mario was rude and the #$$$$$# hung up on me. To me, that was unprofessional on his part and he should be FIRED for his actions. I am going to explore options as to how to start a lawsuit with these people and make sure that they are put out of business. As for Mario at Titlemax in Springfield, start looking for another job!!!!!!!!!

TitleMax Managers get paid bonuses for new biz but they dont even know w\how to sell the consumer a pawn Internet, Georgia
Title Max pays the store mgrs for new biz they generate. Problem is they dont generate anything, they claim recognition for their work (the work of their staff) managers sit on their buts and the dm's dont care what they do. they dont distribute the new biz bonuses to the real person that does the work. you dont get advanced like they say when they hire you. they just put you in a store and that it. no advancement no more education, just critcisim if you dont do well. jobs are tough and thats why tm has a few good people but they are so stupid that when the economy turns they will be back with the people that have no other skills or educations and they dont even know they are alousey place to work. dont expect any one mgr dm or rms to stand behind you right or wrong they are just waiting to blame you for something that they did wrong, and then they will not accept blmae or will gladly place you in the line of fire.

Titlemax Usuary, LLC; Slick Bastards, Inc. Overcharge, predatory lending practices, illegal & unethical colocation tactics Atlanta, Nationwide
I borrowed $3500 on my car title out of desperation. I paid $352.00 a month to stop the harassing collection calls 2x to 4x a day, plus personal visits to my home and my mother's home by titlemax staff as an attempt to collect the debt. After 6 months of 352$ payments, I paid $4300 back to get my title back. To recap, in a 6 month period, I paid $6419 in interest and fees on a $3500 loan against a car worth $10k. I was more desperate after the loan than I ever was prior. This company is the worst, and anyone able to justify this as their employment is the worst type of human alive.
