Planet Fitness WATERFORD FITNESS LLC Failure to honor contract cancellation WATERFORD, Connecticut
Planet Fitness, Waterford, CT is very unprofessional & has poor customer service. A long-term member that never missed a payment, I finally decided to cancel my membership (contract). I stated my intent, & signed a cancellation form which was co-signed by a member of the staff. A month after the "last bill date" I'm still getting charged! The BBB site validates numerous "billing errors" & problems from this gym. Buyer beware: get the termination details spelled out & mutually agreed to before joining this place. Use a credit card for protection rather than a bank account. It's a very frustrating experience because the way they handle disputes is to place the burden on the customer to prove what the staff did (or didn't do). That being the case, I recommend all interactions with staff get video recorded. They appear to have no intention of changing their business practices. Good luck to new members!

i recently signed up, they made it very clear that the contract was for a year and what the buyout fee if I wanted to cancel before that would be.

Planet Fitness Gym - Ives Dairy Rd Miami Too Many Rules - Don't Join This Gym. If You Break a Rule you pay $50 Fine and Lose Your Membership North Mi
Do not purchase any memberships from Planet Fitness. Especially the one at 850 Ives Dairy Road in North Miami Beach, FL. They have fairly inexpensive memberships, but once you sign the contract, you start hearing about all the rules they have. These rules change from week to week. You cannot wear anything on your head except a baseball cap; you can't wear sweat bands on your head; you cant wear a wrap around your waist to help burn fat unless you wear it under your clothes...these are just a few of the stupid rules. If you break a rule, they cancel your membership and charge your credit card a $50 fee. The staff is unprofessional and not helpful. If you don't know how to use a machine, you are out of luck, because they act as if you are bothering them when you ask for help. There are no aerobics classes, yoga, or anything personalized to meet your individual needs. If you use the massage tables, you have a 4 minute maximum. The massage chair has a 4 minute maximum as well. The service is terrible, and there are too many rules of what you can and cannot do, wear, or say. For $5 or $10 more, you are better off going to Bally's or LA Fitness where you have more fitness options, and the freedom to wear whatever you want to workout. Do not buy Planet Fitness gym memberships...THEY CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP AT ANY TIME AND FOR ANY REASON, ESPECIALLY IF YOU BREAK THEIR RICICULOUS "RULES"

PLANET FITNESS OVER CHARGE AND NO REFUND, Internet
I had a membership at the Planet Fitness in gulfport. I decided to cancel my membership at the end of my contract instead of renewing. I went in a couple days before my contract renewal date to cancel and was told if i cancel before my contract renewal date, that I would be charged 56 dollars. I mean not even a week before the cancel date. It was 2 or 3 days. Well I was charged for the next month and when I asked if I was going to get a refund I was told no. When I asked for the corporate office number the desk clerk told me they aren't given the number. I find it hard to believe that this business doesn't give the customer service desk the corporate office number for customer complaints. I finally found the phone number to the corporate office and left a message a week ago and have yet to recieve a call back. This is very unprofessional. I will not recommend anybody getting a membership there.

Planet Fitness Scammers renew contracts by your inaction and take money without notice Warren, Michigan
I signed up with this gym a year ago and barely used the memberships. I tried cancelling but the manager said I had to finish the contract. So I did. I was relieved when the last payment was deducted from my account as both my girlfriend and I have a membership which I pay. 10 days after deducting my last monthly membership of $19.95 per each member, this company had the nerve to charge me an additional $39 annual maintenance fee per member. I contacted the club again, and the manager told me it is in the agreement that if you do not cancel in person, they automatically renew your contract and charge you additional fees. No warning. No letters. Nothing. Just like a crook, they went into my account and took out and additional $78. Now, they say I am stuck into another year. Total scam. I could see if I disputed the charges a month or 2 later, but I responded as soon as it turned "PENDING" in my bank account. Plus, I already told them I wanted to cancel. These people are ruthless. They do not care about the members. These are the exact tactics scamming corporations use to steal your money. Just like the old "magazine subscription enrollment unless you tell them no." Since this is a corporate issue, it doesn't matter what state you are in, the same problem will happen. Avoid at all costs. They are mean.

Planet Fitness No-way is this place a
Planet Fitness has rules of conduct and dress posted at all their facilities. Some of the rules make sense, others do not. Patrons are not permitted to wear blue jeans to do their workouts. Understandable -- blue jeans have grommets, and grommets can scratch or damage the seats on the equipment. No problem. Patrons may not wear sandals while working out. Again, understandable -- unprotected feet can easily be hurt while using the equipment. No problem. But here's where Planet Fitness becomes a huge Judgement Zone: patrons may not wear any type of headgear except baseball hats. No bandanas. No skullcaps, do-rags, beanies or anything that might define the patron as an undesirable in the company's judgement. They don't spell this out -- it's only implied. After all, if they were to say straight out that they dislike blacks, Hispanics, long-haired people, hippie-types, religious people, chemotherapy patients -- or whatever they've imagined these head-coverings denote -- people could get REALLY angry. In a recent visit to the local PF, I wore a faded old blue bandana to hold my hair back. Not in any "gang style" -- but the way a 60-year-old woman would wear it. I am, in fact, a world-weary 60-year-old white woman with bad hair, bad knees, out of shape, modestly-dressed and not a threat to anyone. I was confronted by an employee as I walked the treadmill and was told to remove the bandana or get out. When I asked for a practical reason why my blue bandana was threatening to anyone -- or how it could be deemed a health or safety risk, the answer was that those are the rules. Abide by the rule or get out. If the only answer to the bandana question is, "Because those are the rules," then the rules don't make any sense. However, if the answer to the bandana question is that PF is profiling me and judging me to be a threat to the facility based on my wearing of a particular type of head scarf, then we have some serious prejudicial behavior going on in the executive offices of Planet Fitness. I'm not so naive as to not be aware that there are gangs, thugs, drug dealers and other less-than-savory types lurking about our streets. Heaven knows, they're all probably crushed to the core to know they can't wear their gang-regalia into Planet Fitness and work out next to all the vulnerable good "normal" folks in baseball caps. There's just one problem with this blanket condemnation of everything but baseball caps: the druggie and gang types in our neck of the woods often wear baseball caps. So what is being accomplished here? Yes, I could stop wearing my bandanas -- but this is still America and I'm not willing to give up my right to tie my hair up in a blue cotton-print bandana if I so choose -- just to save a few bucks by signing up with Planet Fitness. I stand to lose a lot more by allowing myself to be judged in this manner. It's not worth it. If anyone else agrees, I hope they will make their voices heard as well.

Planet Fitness World Gym, Golds Gym Upon entering the Planet Fitness facility I was informed by a staff member I would not be allowed to exercise beca
at appx. 11:00 am on jan.3,2011 I entered the Planet Fitness facility in north canton, ohio. I was going to exercise this was my first session as I had just joined the club on jan. 2,2011. i was stopped by a rep for the club who told me i could not enter the club because i wore a turbin on my head.
i explained to the rep i wasnt informed of any such rule had i been i would not have joined an establishment that would not allow me to wear what i deemed properattire to work out in especially head wear. the rep stated that i should have read one of a million signs posted on the wall stating this . i replied that i spoke to a sales rep in your facility who should have informed me of such restrictions. i asked her since i was there could i go ahead and work out she told me no. i advised that i wear a turbin due to religious beliefs the rep referred me to the manager.
the manager and i discussed the fact that i wanted a refund and that i wear a turbin due to religious beliefs she stated i didnt tell her but i would need to get a note from my church confirming that. i told her that is the most riduculois thing i ever heard of. the manager proceed to be rude to me she informed me that I could just take my business elsewhere they didnt need me to be their customer. I was humiliated and ridiculed and the reps laughed at me and i was shoed out the door.
I was treated with a racism approach and it was because my culture was different from the acceptable norm for Planet Fitness. I was told that my turbin intimidated people that is why i couldnot wear it to exercise in but i could wear a baseball hat that was permissable i informed her that i donot wear baseball hats i am an older lady and i wear a terry towel turbin to work out in. the manager did give my money back but that isnt what this is about it is about not being able to join a gym that is supposed to be open to the public and has the motto "we here at planet fitness are here to provide a unique environment in which anyone and we mean anyone can be comfortable a diverse judgement free zone where a lasting active lifestyle can be built". this is the mission statement advertised in the canton repository during the pre opening publicity media. This is a false mission statement and the reps and managers for the planet fitness outfit are practicing the opposite which is racial profiling and discrimanation.

Planet Fitness Both on their web site and in person they stated no commitement signup. What they do not tell you is that it is not true, will drain
This organization has multiple complaints. What they illustrate on the web and did in person was to offer a no obligation, no commitment service. When the money was completely drained out of the account, they then started sending bills to harrass me into an obligation to an agreement. Multiple phone calls did nothing but waste my time. Don't get involved with this company. They are a total scam!
