Best Buy misrepresentation deceptive sales practices Menifee, California
I went to my local Best Buy Store in March, having just purchased a new laptop and living in an area with no access to high speed anything I was looking to get a wireless high speed device. The salesman (more like a BOY) went thru all the different devices sold and the pros and cons of each, This is what I was told. T-Mobile has the worst coverage, AT&T just bought T-Mobile so again bad coverage. (by the way he WAS pulling up coverage maps for each device to show the coverage). Verizon had excellent coverage but if you went over your allotted allowance it became very pricey, then he came to Sprint. Excellent coverage in my area & I was TOLD if you go over your G time the device slows down, But it doesn't cost any extra. Well I got my bill today and Surprise,Surprise,Surprise. I got my bill today. Data plan $59.99 just what I signed up for oops, Overage $73.62 plus a surcharge of $4.99. I got my contract out and with my reading glasses & a magnefier I still cannot find or read. But wait that's not all. I was using tracphone and it was not any cheaper than a cell plan so I let the Salesboy talk me into a Sprint phone plan & they give you a 10% discount each month for a combo plan, again after talking the pros and Cons I signed up for Sprint 900 anytime plan and was TOLD that text & Web data were included. Shazam folks what a great deal for a disabled American Vet. on a fixed income. Well the bill was $59.99 for the anytime plan & $61.11 for text & data fees! Oh plus a surcharge of $4.99 because the total of my bill was over $300.00. I think Sprint is just as responsible as Best Buy. They make the other guys look bad in their TV commercials but really how is Sprint different than ENRON, TYCO, AIG, or any of the others! Thanks I will have to go to my church for a hand out so I can eat the next 2 months and I'm sure that I'll get a beat down from responders, The fact is I was LIED to and DECEIVED into using Sprint Thanks guys I'm sure you don' lose sleep counting your money!!

Best Buy misrepresentation deceptive sales practices Menifee, California
Best Buy scammed me into going to Sprint from AT&T by promising porting credits that never came to be. Sprint gives me the run around, and horrible customer service, Best Buy won't return my calls. They are big evil corporations just like Enron, robbing the middle class and using contracts to hold us hostage.

Best Buy Defaultive Lemon Gateway Desk Top computer Mesa, Arizona
On March 12, 2010 I purchased a Gateway desk top computer from the Best Buy chain in Mesa, Arizona. Since October 29, 2010 it has been returned to the store three (3) different times for the same defaultive problem: No signal, no images on the monitor.
The first trip which took two weeks to get back they replaced the Motherboard. As soon as I got it home I plugged it in and it didn't work, took back to the store. When I got it back the second time they replaced the power source after being gone for another two weeks.
After plugging it in it worked for one day them resumed having the same problems: No signal, No images on the monitor. I took it back for the third time to see if they could fix it, as of November 06, 2010 I am still waiting for the return of my computer. As of this date it has been out of my use for a total of Thirty-Nine (39) days.
I did contact Gateway during this process, they informed me that Best Buys repair services are not qualified or competent to fix these computers. I am starting to agree with them, considering Best Buy couldn't fix the same problem after three (3) tries.
I refused to buy the extended warranty when this machine had a one year manufacture warranty for these exact problems.

Best Buy Defaultive Lemon Gateway Desk Top computer Mesa, Arizona
The warranty that you've used 3 times already, is actually the Manufacturers (Gateway) warranty. The parts that are going into your computer, are actually Gateway parts. If you cared to do a shred of research before your purchase, you would have seen that _ALL_ Gateway desktops (DX series primarily) have had video/motherboard failure issues right out of the box over the last 3 years.
It's certainly not hard for even a layman to replace a motherboard. It's the faulty parts that are received from Gateway. You're pointing your big stick in the wrong direction, buddy.
On a side note, Manufacturers do not have "No Lemon" policies; that would be Best Buy's policy. Which means you could have 100 motherboard failures and they (Gateway/Best Buy) still aren't going to give you a new computer. Now had you purchased their "Extended Warranty", you would be 75% of the way there on qualified repairs, on the terrible purchase that you made 8 months ago.

Best Buy Geek Squad Failed to fix a brand new home theater system, general run around Internet
September 2010 we purchased an 57" LG Tv with a home stereo system by LG. Geek Squad brought the system out and installed it. That very night the system made terrible popping sounds...... That was a year ago. Geek Squad has been out 5 time to "fix" the problem, they have not figured it out. Now they want to charge me to come try and fix a problem they have failed at for the last year, so much for that high dollar black tie protection warranty that covers everything. Best Buy does not care because they have my money. Geek Squad just cant install or fix the system. I have now been on the phone trying to get service for 5 hours, last time it was only 4 hours. Do not purchase from Best Buy!!!!!!! Best Buy and Geek Squad do not care about thier service or customers.

Best Buy Best buy is a scam. I bought a computer. i tried to return and get a refund in 7 days. They refuse and said they will fix it. I went back
I bought a computer for 386 and took it back in 7 days because I was having problems. I try to get my money back. They told me I could not but they can fix it. I took it home and within 2 weeks more problems. I took the computer back in 30 days and they told me they could not give my cash back. Please do not do business at this store. They are prejudice and racist. A lady with the same computer behind me gave them her computer and they return her money. They only told me sorry no cash refund or exchange. They are a scam company and a scammer. BEWARE of BEST BUY in CAnton, GEORGIA. I will never go there again. Walmart does better business than them. Customer service is the best policy for your business. Not tricking people out of their hard earn money. They return cah back after 17 days . My friend who is white told me they did it for her. I guess I was the wrong color. I am so tired of all this racism going around and favoritism. Consumers I am just warning you. angry in canton

Best Buy 'points' scam South Richfield, Minnesota
I have had Best Buy card for years. I have had earned 'points' notifications from Best Buy in the past. ('points' accumulate based on purchases). I was recently informed by Best Buy employee that any of my points earned were not accumulating because I did not go online & 'register'. I was never informed that I had to go online & register in the past. I have lost out on purchase points.

BEST BUY BEST BUY LAPTOP BAIT AND SWITCH MIAMI, Florida
I am reporting my disappointment with Best Buy ‘s new Laptop bait & switch practices. I came to the Dadeland Best Buy store (557) in Miami to buy an advertised laptop for $599.00 and, although they had several of them in stock, they would only sell them at $679.00. They said they only had the computer with added services (antivirus, etc…) pre-installed. Well, who told them to alter the factory product and add services before the customer requested them? I see several infringements in this practice. First of all I think customers should have the right to opt-in on additional services. Second, the original factory product was altered by them when they opened and messed around with it, so even if I wanted those additional products I would no longer buy the clearly and visibly opened and taped closed box from them not knowing who messed with the product and if they properly installed the additional products and packaged everything back properly. So I decided I would pick a different laptop model that hadn’t been altered, and to my surprise I found out that all 22 laptop models on sale were not available at the advertised price. They only had the “Set Up” versions of each of the models on display, at the much higher price. It was clearly a bait and switch practice so I decided to leave the store after speaking to the manager, who basically told me they only had those models at the higher price and even if they received more of the basic advertised models the following day they would be altered and “Set Up” because Best Buy doesn’t make enough money selling the basic versions. I thought it was a bad decision by the store manager to adopt this dishonest strategy so I went to another store in Miami (Store # 553) then to another one (Store # 1665) and found out it was actually a corporate strategy, or at least for the South Florida Stores. I had been a loyal customer of Best Buy for several years and had always considered the company a model of honest company to be followed within the industry , however, the new in store sales strategies have completely driven me away as a customer. I understand that the profit margins in the laptop segment must be very small, however, the companies integrity should never be compromised by adopting these dishonest practices. After speaking to friends, employees and family members about this bad experience, I was surprised to learn that many people had already had the same problem at Best Buy, so I predict that this is probably going to generate more losses than gains to the company on the long run. I had been buying several appliances a year for several rental residences I manage and computer equipment for my business , but will no longer buy from Best Buy.

Best Buy Fail to honor extended warranty West Dundee, Illinois
The Best Buy extended warranty provided by their Geek Squad is basically worthless. I bought a Kodak all in printer with wireless, wired and USB capabilities. I set it up to use the Wireless connection to our home network and it ran fine for a couple of months. Then suddenly the printer could no longer be seen by any of the computers in the house. I took the printer to the West Dundee Illinois Best Buy Geek Squad service center. I tried to explain to the agent behind the counter what the problem was and he told me I would have to bring my computer in so they could test the printer because they had no computer there that could link to the printer. I said here is the install disk set it up on your company machine and test it. They said they were not allowed to install anything on their company equipment. I needed to bring in my computer. I told them the problem was that it could not communicate through the wireless and in order to test it properly they would have to test through a wireless connection. They couldn't do that. I said fine then replace the printer with one that works. They wouldn't do that. They would have to come to our house. To do what? prove what I already know! If this collection of incompetents is going to represent themselves as a fix it outfit they need to get the proper equipment to test what they sell service contracts for. I'm done with Best Buy. They aren't the only big box store around and they aren't always the "best buy" if their service contract is worthless then there is no point in going there.

Best Buy False Advertising! Seekonk, Massachusetts
I bought a "3rd" generation 8gb Ipod Touch AS IT WAS ADVERTISED but instead I ended up getting a 2nd generation Instead. It says 3rd gen on the receipt! So after a year I noticed something the 3rd gen could do but not the 2nd gen so at that moment I went to check what generation my Ipod was which I shouldn't need too if I expect to get what I'm getting in the first place! So low and behold it was a 2nd generation Ipod touch, and noticed that best buy falsely advertised a 3rd generation Ipod touch! So what I did was go to the store they said nothing could be done, ok alright, my next step what consumer relations. They TOLD me that IT WAS MY FAULT FOR REALIZING THIS A YEAR LATER. Well I wouldn't have to realize this if your product wasn't FALSELY ADVERTISED! It even says 3rd generation 8gb Ipod touch on the receipt!!!! So they said they couldnt do anything about it. Now im stuck with a product that I NEVER intended to buy!

best buy best buy needs to fall off the face of the earth Internet
I wrote to Best Buy today about my terrible experience with them, not the first time something has been bad, and promised to post about them everywhere I could find, so here it is: Why you have lost my business: First, my son applied for a best buy credit card online. The card had not arrived but when we called the store (twice, to double check) they said they could look up his card number and he could make his purchases at that time. This was a lie. He wasted multiple hours and $20 of gas. I also called the store manager, left a message but he never called me back. The card never arrived, and the trip for which I needed a car stereo is tomorrow. We have been checking the mail, since it said it would be one or two weeks, and it has been three weeks. We called, and they said the card had just now been mailed out. So, I needed to buy the stereo myself. I called the store to make sure it was in stock and they had time to install it today. I went online and found the correct item and installation. I called to make sure the order would be available to be installed right away. The person told me to place the order over the phone with him, and it would be available immediately. My son once again wasted multiple hours and $20 in gas to drive to the Melbourne FL store, only to be told that the order was 'processing' and would not be available for up to 72 hours. That delay was never mentioned to me before I placed the order. I called your 800 number and was connected to a remarkably rude woman who told me there was nothing that could be done by anyone and I was stuck, and if I wanted to be irritated with her I needed to call someone else. I cancelled the order. I then called the store, where my son was still waiting, to see if there was a way to work through the issue and complete the purchase and installation today. The person told me that if I were in the store it would be no problem but since I was not there it was impossible. I expressed my frustration and conveyed that this was not the first, nor second, nor even tenth time something had been screwed up by best buy. The person said she was sorry but nothing could be done. I asked if she would prefer to try to work something out or if she would prefer for your company to lose my business entirely. She did not choose the first option. You have lost my business, utterly and permanently. I am beyond angry, and I will be most happy to find every single customer alert board and blog, and post about my experiences with your excrescence of a company.

Best Buy Don't Buy from Best Buy Purchased New Lap Top It Lasted just over 2 wks video card went bad Best Buy Not doing the right thing Irving, Texas
DO NOT BUY FROM BEST BUY THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THERE PRODUCTS!!! On June 6th 2011 I purchased a brand new Toshiba lap top from Best Buy in Irving off of 635. When I purchased the lap top I also purchased there extended service contract with the understanding that if my computer broke done for any reason I droped it spilt anything on it that it would be covered. I was also told that if it did brake down that it would be repaired with in 48 hours. I also purchased there virus protection and some addtional products. For all of this I paid $1091.70. My computer through no fault of my own stoped working properly just about 3 weeks later due to the video card going bad. I had just walked in to my office turned it on and puff the screen was shot. I took it in to Best Buy and to the Geek Squad counter, where I was told that it would take a maxium of 14 days to get repaired because they had to ship it to Toshiba to be repaired (so much for the 48 hours I was told when I purchsed it). Over the last month I have been told that I would be getting a call back to let me know what day I could expect my computer back as of yet I have had anyone from Best Buy follow up with what they said they would do. Its has been one lie after another. Today I spoke to Manager Bob (if thats his real name) on the phone at the Irving location. He informed me that he did not care what I was told when I purchased, but since it broke after the 2 wk time period there was nothing he could do and that is was Best Buys policy to let the manfucture handle the issue. He also refused to give me the contact information of who actually has my computer. He then hung up the phone on me. I then called there corporate office and spoke to Otto from customer realtions filed a complaint on Bob, and explained that even tho I gave my money to Best Buy and purchased there extended service contract I still have no computer and that my business is suffering for it. Again I was given the run around and was told that he would call me back that is now 8 times I have been told that I would be called back with some answers. It has been one lie after another with Best Buy my next step is to file a law suit against Best Buy not only for the cost of the computer but for damages. It is now Aug. 15th and my lap top has been in the shop longer then its been with me. If any attorney would like to join me in suing Best Buy please feel free to contact me. MY BEST ADVISE IS DO NOT BUY FROM BEST BUY!!!!! THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THERE PRODUCTS THEY SELL!!!!!
